It was rumored this week that Taylor Swift was offered the Super Bowl LVII halftime show this year.
TMZ reported that these rumors were true, but dismissed them.
A source told the publication that Swift was asked to make headlines months ago, but the pop icon has no plans to perform until she’s finished. to re-record his first six albums.
Making a ‘Taylor version’ of all of her early work has been an ongoing project for Swift, who has expressed her disapproval of producer Scooter Braun buying the rights to these albums in 2019.
Swift accused Braun of being a “relentless and manipulative bully” and wrote on Tumblr at the time that his owning the rights to her work was her “worst-case scenario.”
As the owner of these master recordings, Braun had the right to make, sell or distribute copies.
He chose to sell, earning nearly $300 million.
Swift has made it her mission to make those master recordings worth a little less by re-recording all those albums.
She has already released a re-recording of Red and Fearless.
The four remaining albums to be recorded include her self-titled album, Taylor Swift, Speak Now, 1989 and Reputation.
She supposedly would like to headline the Super Bowl halftime show one day, but the earliest that would happen is 2024.
Until recently, the halftime show was sponsored by Pepsi, but the NFL sent out a press release saying the sponsorship had been taken over by Apple Music.
That’s part of the reason why fans thought Swift might take the stage — she never could have done it before, as she has an ongoing contract with Coca-Cola.
The musician is pretty busy right now, having released two albums in 2020, Folklore and Always, and announcing another album to be released in October titled Midnights.
