Miley Cyrus’ new musical era may have gotten off to a successful, chart-topping start worldwide with her single “Flowers,” but the musician wasn’t at tonight’s Grammys for good reason. This year, Cyrus is not in the running for any award. Next year, that could very well change, given “Flowers” and Cyrus’ upcoming album. Endless summer vacation are released during the eligibility period for the 2024 ceremony.
Cyrus expressed his gratitude for the success of “Flowers.” On Jan. 30, Cyrus wrote, “Celebrating ‘Flowers’ being #1 worldwide again this week! I love that this record connects so positively and it’s a pleasure to continue creating music for you. These milestones are only made possible by the listeners and my amazing fans. Much obliged.
The first week the song topped the charts, Cyrus wrote, “Grateful that Flowers is number 1 in the world. This song is dedicated to my fans and the unwavering self-love I wish for each of you. Eternally grateful, Miley.
Cyrus did not address fan theories suggesting the song, which was released on her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth’s 33rd birthday, was about him and their breakup. But her sister Brandi Cyrus did, saying on her and Wells Adams’ “Your Favorite Thing” podcast recently, “Miley’s new song, all the tea…and all the stories the fans are doing on TikTok. is so good. The song came out on his birthday, was it on purpose? I don’t know. Can’t say. Awesome, though.
The stories fans have created “make Miley look like an absolute genius,” Brandi added. “And it’s just too good.” After citing a few theories she’s heard, Brandi confessed she couldn’t tell if they were true. “I’m not here to say what’s true and what’s not,” she admitted. “Only Miley knows the truth.”
