For some, having the chance to kiss Beyoncé would be a dream come true. But for Jamie Foxx, sealing his lips with the singer was not something he particularly enjoyed participating in.
Following the celebrity film release in 2006 Dream girls, Foxx revealed that his on-screen kiss with Beyoncé wasn’t something he found himself in shock. In fact, it was far from pleasurable for the actor to hold his lips together with the singer, as the idea that she was someone else’s wife didn’t suit him.
What is “Dreamgirls” about?
Dream girls is a musical drama heavily inspired by the history of the Motown label and one of its most popular acts, The Supremes.
In the film, Foxx plays Curtis Taylor Jr., a Cadillac dealer who starts his own label, Rainbow Records, to make black artists household names by crossing them into the pop charts.
While taking off his label, Curtis meets The Dreamettes, a group of young girls made up of singer Effie White (Jennifer Hudson) and backing vocalists Deena Jones (Beyoncé) and Lorrell Robinson (Anika Noni Rose).

After becoming the singers ‘manager, Curtis takes the girls’ career to new heights but finds himself embroiled in a love triangle along the way.
While turning the Dreamettes into headliners as Dreams, Curtis becomes romantically involved with Effie. But after demoting the big-voiced singer and putting the softer-voiced viewer, Deena, ahead, Curtis and Effie part ways. Soon after firing Effie and sending her into a life of poverty, Curtis takes Deena and Dreams to the top.
During their rise to fame, Curtis falls in love with Deena, and they end up getting married. However, after Deena learns that Curtis has created a disco version of Effie’s comeback single, she divorces the ruthless manager and takes control of her own career.
The film debuted in theaters on December 25, 2006 and performed well at the box office, pulling in $ 155 million on a budget of $ 80 million. He has also received several awards and nominations, including three wins at the 64th Golden Globe Awards and two Oscars at the 79th Academy Awards.
Beyoncé was nervous to shoot her fuck scene with Jamie Foxx
Since Dream girls is a musical film, there were hardly any romantic scenes throughout its 1.5 hour duration. But while it doesn’t feature any major love scenes between the characters, there was a point in the movie where Deena and Curtis kept their lips tight.
The time has come at the end of the song “That’s My Dream”. As Curtis wraps up his performance, he and Deena fall into a passionate embrace before the screen goes black.

While the moment seemed believable, it took a while for Beyoncé to get used to kissing Foxx onscreen. Turns out the “Crazy In Love” singer was nervous about kissing the actor on the movie, claiming she was too inexperienced.
“I guess you could say we had a love scene. We kissed each other. Now I’m a singer / songwriter, that’s what I did first – I didn’t start going to acting classes and kissing people classes, ”Beyoncé said, according to Digital Spy. “So it’s still new to me.
The singer went on to explain that while she was nervous about locking her lips with Foxx, working with her interim trainer on the details of making a screen kiss believable helped her overcome some of those nerves.
“Working with my interim coach made it easier. I just thought it was necessary for the character, we have to establish that they are married, ”she said.
Bey also noted that Foxx was very respectable and helped make the experience relatively painless. She added: “Jamie was very professional, it was fast and you know, that’s what it is”
Jaime Foxx didn’t like kissing Beyoncé
While many jump at the chance to tighten their lips with Beyoncé, that wasn’t really the case with Foxx.
While performing his 2007 Unpredictable show at Madison Square Garden, the actor did a stand-up segment, where he talked about Beyoncé and explained why he didn’t like kissing her in Dream girls.
According to the actor (via MTV News), he didn’t like filming this scene with Bey because he had in mind that she was “Jay-Z’s daughter.” He said all he heard in his head during the onscreen lip lock was, “Jiggg-aaah!”
But while they didn’t enjoy the kissing scene with Beyoncé, Foxx and the singer still made their on-screen relationship believable, and that’s all that really matters.
