Jack Grealish will not be in England’s squad for tonight’s Three Lions clash against Germany in the Nations League.
The Manchester City winger is unavailable for selection for Gareth Southgate’s side’s final game before the start of the World Cup in November.
Grealish is suspended after picking up his second group stage yellow card against Italy on Friday night as England were relegated from Group A3.
He was carded for arguing with the referee in the 93rd minute at the San Siro after receiving another booking against the Azzuri in June at Molineux.
After appearing on the bench last time out, the 27-year-old would have likely started tonight but will be forced to watch from the stands.
Grealish has faced criticism in recent weeks for his Premier League form.
However, he hit back at his critics by scoring his first goal since May in a minute against Wolves for Man City.
Although Graeme Souness was still unconvinced when speaking live on talkSPORT.
Souness said: “He’s a good footballer. He’s not a great player.
“I understand why people think he’s better than he actually is – because he runs the ball and puts you on the edge of your seat.
“But he doesn’t deliver enough. He doesn’t see the right photo and he doesn’t deliver it fast enough.
With tonight’s game being the last chance for him to earn some critical acclaim ahead of the World Cup, will his absence affect Grealish’s chances of being selected?
The winger ends the Nations League campaign without a goal or an assist and will now miss the chance to help secure his place in the squad.
He will be joined by Trent Alexander-Arnold, Fikayo Tomori, James Ward-Prowse and Jarrod Bowen who will not make an appearance this international break.
Grealish and the missing players will worry about their chances of making the World Cup squad when Southgate makes their selection next month.
