The resort itself is secluded and private, with villas arranged around a water lily-lined lagoon on the edge of Phuket’s longest beach. As you stroll along bamboo-shaded paths and through tropical gardens designed by Bill Bentley, the paths open to elegant gates, behind which are sumptuous villas with private swimming pools, outdoor showers, baths integrated into the pool itself -same and personal wine cellars. In the bathrooms there is a terrazzo bathtub large enough for two.
Designed in the style of a southern Thai village, the jewel in the crown is the Jim Thomson Villa, a 389 m² behemoth just steps from the beach that is inspired by the legend of Jim Thompson, ancestor of the Thai silk industry.
As for the yet-to-be-named Bangkok hotel, Bloomberg reports that it will be a “more authentically Thai property.” [than the Four Seasons]still unidentified.
Regardless of which hotel it is located in, one thing is certain: Thailand will very soon see The White Lotus effect. With filming starting this month, travelers wanting to experience these luxury islands and resorts before the hordes arrive will need to book as soon as they can.
