You’ve probably heard a song by Miley Cyrus on TikTok if you’re using the popular video sharing app among teens and 20s. The Hannah montana star grew alongside the social media boom for millennials and millennials, and his way of tapping into multiple social media platforms has also helped his music career flourish. His latest discovery to promote his songs was via TikTok. Many of Cyrus’ songs have gone viral on the app, including a few from his latest album, Plastic hearts.
Cyrus’ first TikTok video took place on October 16, 2019. The singer held up a sign that said “Please don’t swear”, and the former Disney Channel star started to shout jokingly “F *” ck! “
His first TikTok has garnered over 10 million views, but his second TikTok has even more – over 200 million. Cyrus’ second video on the app was a day later, starring in Kylie Jenner’s singing meme “Rise and Shine.” It showed Jenner singing the song, and the four judges of The voice, including herself, turning their chairs for the fun clip.
While Cyrus first used TikTok to show off her personality, she also used the app to promote her new music. Cyrus shared a video in dimly lit pink and purple lighting, “teasing” his song “Midnight Sky” on August 5, 2020. Two weeks later, Cyrus celebrated the commercial success of the song.
“Midnight Sky” has the biggest radio addition week of my career, “she captioned a TikTok on August 19.
But “Midnight Sky” wasn’t Cyrus’ biggest song on the video-sharing platform.

Cyrus started commenting on fans’ TikToks as they used the audio from his first single from his latest album, Plastic hearts, with the song of the same name. Fans took part in a sort of challenge saying they would receive piercings, tattoos and even name the children after Cyrus if she commented on their TikToks.
The result of all of Cyrus’ comments and all of the fan support shown led the Cyrus team to compile Fan TikToks for a lyrical video on “Plastic Hearts”.
“This lyrical video is a love letter to all the superstars who made #PlasticHearts a viral phenomenon,” Cyrus wrote captioned his TikTok announcement of the new video in December 2020.
But “Plastic Hearts” isn’t the only song by Cyrus that has gone viral on the app.

The fan challenge for “Plastic Hearts” clearly paid off for Cyrus. The song’s audio on TikTok has been used in more than 85,000 videos, all promoting Cyrus’s song. And that’s just the number of videos in which audio was used, not the total number of views.
Other popular songs, including Cyrus on TikTok, include: “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” (over 155,000 videos using audio); “Heart of glass” (133,200); and “Angels like you” (81,400).
Cyrus has definitely proven that she knows how to go viral, more than a decade into her Hollywood career.
