After a condensed Champions League group stage, the teams that qualified for the Round of 16 will meet their fate in the Round of 16 next week.

There are a few high profile absentees from the draw, with a few surprise inclusions taking their place. Here’s everything you need to know about the draw.

When and where is the Champions League Round of 16 draw held?

The draw for the Round of 16 will take place at 11am GMT (12pm CET, 6am EST) on Monday, November 7.

UEFA’s House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland is the venue for the draw.

This is a different location from where the group stage draw took place. For the second consecutive year, the eight groups were drawn in Istanbul, which is also the city where the final of this season takes place.

Which teams will be in the Champions League Round of 16 draw?

After the last week of the group stage, we now know the 16 teams that will make up Monday’s draw.

In Group A, Napoli and Liverpool have already booked their place in the next round. The Italians – who have been the standout team across Europe this season – finished ahead of Jurgen Klopp’s side despite losing by two goals at Anfield.

The two teams coming out of Group B have also been confirmed as the surprise package, Club Brugge and Porto have booked their last 16 spots. Porto improved Club Brugge’s result to finish first.

The situation is already much clearer in Group C where the headline concerns Barcelona’s early exit for the second consecutive season. Bayern Munich haven’t lost a point, so they are the group winners, while Inter are second.

Group D has been the most exciting until the last week. Tottenham Hotspur won the group at the last minute by beating Marseille, while Eintracht Frankfurt beat Sporting Lisbon away to finish second.

Chelsea are another of the teams to confirm their place as group winners in Group E. AC Milan also advanced with Graham Potter’s side after beating Salzburg 4-0.

In Group F, Real Madrid qualified as group winners, while RB Leipzig finished second after beating Shakhtar Donetsk 4-0 in Warsaw.

Everything is already decided in Group G. Manchester City qualified as group winners with Dortmund also behind them. Copenhagen are already eliminated while Sevilla secured third place.

Finally, in Group H, PSG and Benfica have already confirmed their last 16 places with the elimination of Juventus. Although Benfica finished group winners due to scoring more away goals than the Ligue 1 champions.

How does the Champions League Round of 16 draw work?

The eight group winners will be seeded and cannot play each other in the last 16. The eight runners-up will not be seeded and will each be drawn against one of the group winners.

Teams originally drawn in the same groups cannot be drawn against each other at this stage nor can teams from the same association be drawn against each other.

Both of these rules will change in the quarter-finals where each of the bottom eight teams can be drawn against each other in any order.

At this stage, the group winners will also enjoy a home advantage as they will play their first legs away, before hosting their respective runners-up in the decisive second leg.

What are the key dates for the Round of 16?

While the group stage was forced to end earlier than usual due to the Winter World Cup, the Round of 16 will follow the same pattern as last season.

The first legs will be played on four dates in February: 14, 15, 21 and 22, while the four dates for the return matches will fall on 7, 8, 14 and 15 March. , March 15, the combined quarter-final and semi-final draw will take place on Friday March 17 before the matches to be played in April.

The other key dates for the Champions League are as follows:

  • Quarter-finals: 11/12 & 18/19 April 2023
