Ben Affleck once said that his relationship with Jennifer Lopez was negatively affecting his career. Although the duo are happily married now, there was a tumultuous period in their romance in the early 2000s which led to their separation. For the uninitiated, Bennifer rekindled their romance last year after being apart for nearly 20 years.
They were the Hollywood IT couple that they met in 2002 and got engaged at the end of that year. After a year of romance and PDA-filled movies where they worked together, the two called off their marriage in 2003. The reason behind it was “excessive media attention”.
In 2004, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck separated and reunited last year. But there was a time when the Justice League actor said his relationship with JLo bombed his career. Speaking with Bill Simmons on Any Given Wednesday in 2016, Affleck said, “If you go by what people said…I wasn’t cool and I wasn’t talented, and I was, like, the lowest rung of cool and talented that you could possibly be in the public consciousness at that time.
“I had broken up with Jennifer Lopez, and I had, like, three or four movies in a row that bombed,” Ben Affleck added. After this period, a few of his films, including the one with JLo, Gigli, did not do well at the box office. After their breakup, the two went on to live their separate lives. Both Jennifer and Ben married different people and had children.
But now the two are back together and haven’t had much time to get their rekindled romance serious. After getting together last year, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck got married, not once but twice this year.
