After a long wait, WhatsApp is rolling out the ability to import third-party sticker packs to Android and iOS platforms. Well, the app has supported third-party sticker packs for quite some time, but it’s limited to users who create their own custom stickers using compatible apps. After creating stickers using third party apps, users can import them to instant messaging platform.
Now, according to a recent revelation from WABetaInfo, the feature is official in some markets such as Brazil, India, and Indonesia. It is said that other countries will benefit from the support to import third-party sticker packs to Android and iOS in the coming weeks.
Support for third party WhatsApp stickers
IOS users with version 2:21:40 and beta Android users with version 2: 21: 5: 6 will have the option to use the feature that allows them to import third-party sticker packs. It’s being rolled out to app stores, and users might get the same in a few days.
How to import third-party sticker packs
The Google Play Store and the Apple App Store have a number of sticker creation apps. The WhatsApp fan site notes that the ‘Sticker Maker’ app will allow them to create stickers on their own. This is interesting because users can create stickers that they like. Following the recent update of the Sticker Maker app, it is also possible to create animated stickers that contain only text. Additionally, users can create sticker using image or video from Gallery app.
Sticker Maker confirms that WhatsApp is rolling out the ability to import custom sticker packs. He notes that if you can’t add stickers to WhatsApp, you have to wait for the latest update to arrive on your smartphone.
Based on official WhatsApp guidelines, users can import an image or an animated sticker pack. There may be issues when importing sticker packs with static and animated stickers. In addition, each sticker pack must have at least three stickers. If you want to add third party sticker packs to WhatsApp, you should keep these aspects in mind.
If you use the Sticker Pack app for this purpose, you need to open the app and choose a name for the sticker pack. Now add some animated pictures or stickers to the pack. You can resize the stickers on the app. Now publish the sticker pack, which will be converted to webp file by the app so that it can be imported to WhatsApp easily.
