Much like her mother, Zahara Jolie-Pitt seems dedicated to creating positive change in the world. In 2021 and early 2022, the teenager joined her mother in Washington, D.C., as an advocate for the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act, a measure that aims to address and prevent domestic violence. The VAWA Reauthorization Act was signed into law in March 2022, by the White House.
In February 2022, Angelina Jolie posted on Instagram about a visit to DC. In the caption, she shared, “As we approach the Senate’s introduction of the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act, I am grateful and honored to join dedicated advocates and legislators. I I’m also happy to share the plea with Zajara – and for her presence to calm my nerves ahead of today’s press conference.”
Zahara’s humanitarian efforts span the globe. In 2018, the young activist joined her mother and her sister Shiloh in a Syrian refugee camp in Jordan. People magazine caught up with the trio on the trip and snapped a photo of Angelina and her smiling daughters sitting around a table with Syrian women. In another image, Zahara and Shiloh can be seen feeding chickens at camp. With the influence of her mother, who has completed around 60 field assignments with the UN Refugee Agency, we are sure to see more of Zahara’s humanitarian work in the future.
