What Sam Rockwell Really Spit in Tom Hanks’ Face in The Green Mile – SlashFilm

In the video, Rockwell reveals that the film crew used creative editing to get the shots of his character spitting in Hanks’ face and David Morse’s guard character, Brutus:

“I don’t know if I’m actually spitting, but [Tom Hanks] was ready to take it. He was cool with it. Yeah, we used egg whites for the slime and then we had chocolate paste. We had to throw a turkey baster in his face. And Oscar-winning makeup artist Lois Burwell had to paint spots on my butt and everywhere else, liver spots on my face and the devil is in the details. You know, you really – details really add to a character. This creates a full-fledged three-dimensional person, a sort of human ball of pus. »

The chocolate batter was probably intended for the Moon Pie spit in Morse’s face, but the big chunk of spit he throws in Hanks’ face certainly looks like egg white. Raw. Wild Bill is kind of a ridiculous monster that somehow works because of the level of detail put into him, as well as Rockwell’s commitment to selling him as a real human being, even if he is a “ball of pus”.
