SOCIAL media users have recently spurred rumors of “pizzagate”, a four-year-old conspiracy theory about an alleged global child sex trafficking network.
Unfounded rumors started in 2016 before the presidential election.
What is Pizzagate’s conspiracy theory?
There is an unsubstantiated rumor that Hillary Clinton and other Democrats are operating a child sex trafficking network in a Washington pizzeria.
The conspiracy theory was born on 4chan and was based on hacked emails from the Democratic Party and published by Wikileaks.
He said that Hillary Clinton and her former campaign manager, John Podesta, were running a children’s sex network at Comet Ping Pong in Washington.
The owner of the restaurant, James Alefantis, a Democratic Party donor, appears in emails related to the organization of a Democratic fundraiser.
Users of 4chan and Reddit claimed that the words in the emails – such as cheese and pizza – were code for young children and sexual acts.
In December of the same year, a gunman with an assault rifle opened fire on the cupboard of the pizzeria.
In the months leading up to this year’s presidential election, the pizzagate conspiracy theory resurfaced and rumors were set on fire by TikTok.
The QAnon conspiracy group is also promoting its pizzagate ideas on private Facebook groups.
Who was involved in the pizzagate scandal?
Hillary Clinton, her campaign manager John Podesta, and pizzeria manager James Alefantis were initially targeted in the pizza scandal.
Nowadays, the conspirators are now convinced that there is a whole range of powerful figures involved in the alleged network of child sex trafficking, such as Bill Gates, Ellen DeGeneres, Justin Bieber and Oprah Winfrey.
Recently, Justin Bieber fans thought the superstar singer was beckoning them after being seen fitting his hat in an Instagram video.
A user asked him to touch his hat if he had been a victim of pizzagate.
Comments from his 130 million followers poured in and the resurgence of pizza theories began.
Globally, TikTok users have created videos analyzing his actions and the hashtag #savebieber has started to gain ground.
Justin did not comment on the unfounded rumors.
What is Wayfair’s child trafficking conspiracy theory?
Wayfair’s conspiracy theory is the belief that very expensive cabinets listed for sale on the company’s website were actually missing children.
The conspiracies believe that Wayfair CEO Niraj Shah resigned from the company following the alleged scandal, but he did not resign.
“Is it possible that Wayfair is involved in human trafficking with their WFX Utility collection? Or is it just extremely expensive cabinets? (Note the names of the cabinets), it makes my stomach ache if it “is true,” wrote editor PrincessPeach1987 on Thursday, according to Newsweek.
Along with the editor’s statement, a screenshot was shared on the Wayfair website, showing cupboards – with names that social media users say are missing girls.
The firm’s photos were called Neriah, Yaritza, Alyvia and Samiyah – which social media users discovered as the names of missing girls.
Suspicions arose after the cabinet lists were deleted from the Wayfair website – shortly after the messages went viral.
A user went to Twitter to write, “People suspect they are selling people in these big storage boxes / cabinets on Wayfair. They are all the same product but have different names, all female names. And they are all priced at $ 10 – $ 15k more than furniture sold elsewhere “, with the hashtag #ChildTrafficking.
Wayfair’s conspiracy theories come a year after 500 Wayfair employees left the company’s head office in Boston.
The walkout took place after employees learned that Wayfair had benefited from the sale of beds at detention centers for migrant children.
In a statement to Newsweek on Friday, a spokesperson for Wayfair said: “There is, of course, no truth to these claims.
“The products in question are industrial quality cabinets at an exact price.
“Recognizing that the photos and descriptions provided by the supplier did not adequately explain the high price.
“We have temporarily removed the products from the site to rename them and to provide a more in-depth description and photos that accurately describe the product to clarify the price.”
Why do people think Shah resigned as CEO of Wayfair?
Entrepreneurs Niraj Shah and Steve Conine founded Wayfair in August 2002 and established their headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts.
Wayfair currently sells 10 million products per year.
The Courier Daily reported that the company’s 2017 net revenue was $ 4.7 million.
The conspiracies believe Shah has resigned from his post in light of Wayfair’s traffic allegations posted on Reddit.
No official statement has corroborated the theory that Shah resigned from his post.
A user went on Twitter to write: “The CEO of #Wayfair has resigned. Of course, this is normal when you are guilty of selling KIDS on your website disguised as cheap furniture. “
The tweet is now deleted.
