Hollywood friendships often come and go like passing seasons. But, as Salma Hayek details in a recent conversation, her connection to Angelina Jolie transcends fleeting Tinseltown connections.
Their relationship, woven with mutual respect and camaraderie, has become legendary among fans and industry insiders.
Speaking at the Toronto International Film Festival, where she was on hand for the screening of The Christmas SaborSalma couldn’t help but light up when talking about Angelina.
ET’s Nischelle Turner delved into the details of their relationship, and Salma candidly expressed her appreciation for their shared journey, saying, “Everything. She’s been very, very enriching in my life, in so many ways – in as mothers, you know. Most of all, as artists.
While many might associate their bond with their shared screen time in the 2021 Marvel movie The Eternals, the roots are deeper.
Angelina directed Salma in an upcoming film, Without blood. Recounting her experience, Salma previously told Deadline: “She [Angelina] is the best director I have ever worked with… I really loved working with her; I enjoyed every second.”
To ET, Salma highlighted how their bond has only grown stronger over time, saying, “We’re getting closer and closer. And it’s just natural. It’s just something that flows .”
Celebrating another orbit around the sun, the Mexican actress marked her 57th birthday with breathtaking seaside snaps, prompting many to wonder about her timeless beauty secret. Answering the age-old question of her seemingly eternal youth, she credited “meditation.”
“It’s not just about physical exercises,” Salma noted. “For many, finding discipline in exercise can be a challenge. However, for me, meditation feels like a walk in the park.”
Adding her unique perspective, she said, “Just sitting with yourself for a moment can be a meditation. And I make it a point to do it every day.”
As the festival buzz surrounded The Christmas Sabor (or The Flavor of Christmas in English), Salma, its producer, gave her point of view. The film presents three intertwined stories set against the backdrop of Mexico City, highlighting themes of acceptance and love.
Drawing parallels between the essence of the film and the festive spirit, Salma observed: “What better time than Christmas, and a Christmas film to talk about acceptance? Christmas offers us a chance for introspection.
“This is an opportunity to summon the courage to express our love, even to those we find it hardest to say it to. It’s about finding family, cherishing the bonds we already have and harnessing the potential to form new ones.
