Jurgen Klopp’s side have almost no chance of getting their hands on more silverware this season after this result, but they will need to keep winning in the event of an unlikely turnaround.

They face the Hammers who are coming off two consecutive defeats, convincingly beaten by Crystal Palace last time out.

Meanwhile, it also appears David Moyes’ tenure as Hammers boss is set to end with fans unhappy with the club’s performance.

Moyes is yet to sign a new contract and he, along with the board, understand that the fractured relationship between support and manager will impact his future.

Both managers have been at the helm of their respective clubs for many years and enjoyed success, but it appears their time is over.

They will meet once more in the dugout before Klopp is potentially replaced by Arne Slot and Moyes’ position is possibly taken by Ruben Amorim.

West Ham vs Liverpool: what was said?

Klopp called on Liverpool to be more clinical after failing to score despite seven shots on target against Everton on Wednesday.

Speaking to talkSPORT after the defeat, he said: “I really think we should just try to win football games by playing better, more convincingly, using our chances.

“That’s obviously the problem over the last few weeks, I think it’s obvious. We create, we don’t use them often enough.

“At the end of the season it’s obviously not great because the first thing you need is results, for that you have to score goals, you don’t have to concede, that would also be helpful.

“Yeah, nothing good to say about that today.”
