What movie inspired Alan Wake 2?
Alan wakes up 2 will have a split storyline. One would revolve around Alan, the game’s protagonist, and the other around Saga, an FBI agent. The game will require them to use their intelligence to get out of a nightmarish situation. Alan will find himself in a grave maze of his own creation, while Saga will pursue him to reach the bottom of a series of ritual murders.
“One of the first things that came to mind when we were thinking about creating the concept of an FBI agent coming with his partner to investigate these murders was the first season of True Detective.” Rowley reveals to IGN. And then obviously, stylistically, again, it has a lot of ritual elements that we could very well draw on.

She told IGN: “Switching to The Overlap as Saga when you go through the forest and that first Overlap with the intense reds and the blending of worlds, it felt like a deleted scene from the first season of True Detective to me.”
