Wayne Rooney apologized to his family and Derby County for the footage that emerged from a drunken evening.
Doubts have been raised over the Manchester United and England legend’s future with the Rams after The Sun leaked footage of him in a hotel room with two women.
Rooney will remain as the league manager and expressed his gratitude after a 1-0 pre-season win over Real Betis on Wednesday night.
He told Sky Sports: “I made a mistake. I went to a private party with two of my friends.
“For my part, I would like to apologize to my family and the club for the images that were circulating.
“I want to move forward on this. I am grateful to Derby County for giving me this opportunity to put this club in its place
“I will do everything in my power to do it. “
It’s been a tough few days for Rooney, who also sidelined Derby defender Jason Knight for 12 weeks with a tackle in training.
Meanwhile, the Rams have just nine senior players signed up for the new season – two goalies and Knight included – as they battle an EFL transfer embargo.
Former England international Trevor Sinclair has said Rooney needs to use this support from his club to establish his managerial credentials and continue his career.
“When you are a leader of men and the manager of a football club, you have different responsibilities,” said Sinclair.

“He will feel like he has let himself down, losing control, drinking too much and putting himself in a very precarious situation.
“Unfortunately I think the girls took advantage of him, he fell asleep.
“But when you’re backed by the people who employ you when you make a mistake, I think that’s when Wayne Rooney comes out of his shell and becomes the manager we all think he could be. “
