On April 21, 1993, CBS premiered Walker, Texas Ranger, a series so inspired by the movie Chuck Norris Lone Wolf McQuade that he borrowed his star for the title role of Cordell Walker, a lawyer who uses martial arts to beat criminals.
This TV movie served as the pilot episode, which opens with Walker crossing the Mexican border to beat up bank robbers and bring them back to the United States in his van. After another group of bank robbers kill his partner, Walker seeks justice and ends up crossing paths with the infamous former CIA agent named Orson Wade (Marshall Teague, Relay). At the same time, he must protect a teenage circus acrobat from the three creeps who gang-raped her and now try to prevent her from testifying against them. Yikes.
Walker, Texas Ranger ran from 1993 to 2001, with a TV movie in 2005 called Trial by Fire. The series has just been restarted by To be human creator Anna Fricke on The CW as Walker, with Jared Padalecki in the title role.
