Olympia, the 5-year-old daughter of Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian, has been asking to be a big sister for some time now. As Williams revealed her second pregnancy to the world on May 1 at the 2023 Met Gala, the tennis champion broke the big news at Olympia earlier today and shared the sweet moment in a behind-the-scenes YouTube video she published on May 23.
At the start of the clip, Williams shows off her positive pregnancy test and suppresses her daughter’s reaction, saying, “Olympia doesn’t know right now that I’m pregnant, but she called me fat and then she got really She was like, ‘Mom, you’re fat.’ I tried not to take it personally because I really like fitness, but I’m like, ‘Uh, is that me?'”
Williams and Ohanian then sit Olympia down later in the video to say they are expecting another cub. “Do you remember how you prayed for a little sister or a little brother? Williams asks him, before continuing, “Well, we went to the doctor, and it turns out I’m not putting on weight. But I have a baby in my stomach.”
A shocked Olympia then gently asks, “Are you kidding me?”, before her father assures her that she’s going to be a big sister. Which causes her to scream with delight as she kisses her mother’s growing belly. Williams then lifts her t-shirt to reveal her little baby bump, sending Olympia running and jumping around the room screaming with a smile.
The announcement of Williams’ pregnancy at Olympia didn’t come without some instruction, as Ohanian warned their daughter that she had “a lot of work to do” to prepare for her sibling’s arrival.
An expecting Williams excitedly shared little tidbits of her pregnancy journey so far with baby bump photos on Instagram. Ohanian was equally thrilled with the couple, who married in 2017, expanding their family. During a recent interview with “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?”, the Reddit co-founder said he and his wife don’t yet know the gender of their baby but shared (via People), “I’m sure I I’m going to be a daddy girl. So even though we have, you know, 50 more kids, they’ll all be girls.”
