Here, the main character, OJ (Daniel Kaluuya), arrives at Jupiter’s Claim, a Wild West-style theme park near his property, to investigate. He finds the place empty except for a pig on a roof and a horse in a cage.
And also, just maybe, something in the sky.
Narrating the footage, writer and director Jordan Peele said he wanted to “bring out the surreal ‘theme park’ and Hollywood” in this setting.
OJ continues to an arena where he looks up and spots a UFO moving erratically and potentially threateningly through the clouds.
“The idea was that if people could leave a movie feeling the sky the way they felt the water after ‘Jaws,’ then I would be in a prime position to torment them for at least several years,” Peele said.
