Billie Eilish is always ready to explore the unknown, whether through his haunting and redefining pop music or his signature style studiously relaxed and impeccably designed. The Vogue cover star flinch at the prospect of being interviewed by artificial intelligence; Eilish is more than a game, even if his interlocutor starts by calling him “Billie Eyelash”. (Well, it’s still learning.)
Decorated with Prada from the bucket hat to the tip of the sneaker, Eilish faces more existential and abstract questions than the norm. “What is your character?” asks the bot. “What are you missing?” But even if they are not conventional, the questions are not necessarily random: they are based on the 170 million search results available online for the name Eilish.
All of this creates an unprecedented conversation. Questions about AI can sometimes seem a little strange – “Which part of the world is obsolete?” He asks at one point – but Eilish always responds thoughtfully: “Shame on people for wearing what they want is obsolete. Calling each black artist “urban” is outdated. Eilish also remembers his story on social media, longing to watch the stars near Lake George, and remembers wearing a wig to go unnoticed in public.
After the interview, there is just one more surprise in Eilish’s encounter with AI, resulting in a unique musical collaboration. Watch the full video above.
