Few trackdays can compete with the touristenfahrten experience at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. With one of the best racing tracks in the world at their disposal, Misha Charoudin’s latest video features a girl named Kristel beating her VR6-swapped Volkswagen Golf 2 around the Green Hell.
Kristel built the car with her friends and says she’s been to the Nordschleife pretty much every weekend since. Along with the replacement of the engine, the interior was completely stripped down and reinforced with a protective cage. True head of gasoline through and through, she also has the VIN number tattooed on her arm.
This is why it is unfortunate to hear Misha mention that Kristel is one of the few women interested in the mystique of the Nordschleife. Either way, with just around 225 horsepower (168 kilowatts) to work, she isn’t afraid to send it to one of the most demanding race tracks in the world. She even gives Misha a good scare after staying on the accelerator above the ridge in Planzgarten.
The recent passing of Sabine Schmitz has left a huge void for motorsport fans around the world. Nicknamed the Queen of the Nürburgring, her tenacity and positivity in and out of the race car has left a lasting impact on the industry. In addition to her accolades on the track – including two-time winner of the Nürburgring 24 Hours – she has proven that women have their place in motorsport.
No one can replace the enthusiasm and vigor that Schmitz brought to the table, but it’s such a great sight to see Misha with such great talent like Kristel. The point is, anyone who can keep Misha quiet in the passenger seat is a very fast driver.
