Genevieve Padalecki is cast opposite her husband Jared on the reboot of Walker, The CW’s Texas Ranger; she will play Cordell Walker’s deceased wife, Emily.
The CW Walker, Texas Ranger to restart, Walker, chose Geneviève Padalecki in the role opposite her real husband, Jared Padalecki. The couple met on the set of The CW’s own hit series Supernatural, in which Jared starred and Genevieve appeared in a recurring role starting in season 4. After her marriage in 2010, Geneviève Padalecki moved away from the series and acted in general to focus on educating the three the couple’s children in Austin, Texas. Before Supernatural, Padalecki had starred in ABC’s Fires for three seasons in the lead role.
According to Deadline, Padalecki was cast opposite her husband as his late wife, Emily. Jared Padalecki stars as titular Cordell Walker as he returns home to Austin after being undercover for two years. Emily’s character will only appear in the flashback, but is still expected to play a major role. She is described as “Late wife strong, capable and generous, courageous and focused on helping people deprived of their rights.” Part of the storyline for the first season will be the mysterious circumstances surrounding Emily’s death, which Jared Padalecki’s Walker will investigate.
the Walker, Texas Ranger reboot also cast Lindsay Morgan from The 100, Keegan Allen (Pretty little Liars), and X-Files former Mitch Pileggi. The series, like its original, centers around the titular Texas Ranger as he battles crime in the state of Texas. The original series aired for eight seasons from 1993 to 2001 and starred Chuck Norris in the lead role. Born from the movie Norris Lone Wolf McQuade, the series aired 200 episodes and one made-for-television movie.
Walker would begin filming on location in Austin, Texas from mid-October, as would Padalecki’s role in Supernatural comes to an end. That, along with the cast of the married couple, makes filming in the COVID-19 era easier. Not only will the couple be able to stay close to their children, romantic scenes can be much easier to film as the couple are already together. With Walker start of production in October, a first mid-season is not out of the question.
