Volkswagen Arteon Wagon spied on with barely a bit of camouflage

The development of the Volkswagen Arteon wagon, which could arrive as an Arteon firing brake, takes place with very little camouflage when the next long-roof model arrives on the road. These new spy plans provide an excellent overview of the vehicle. Look for a start later this year, and there’s even a chance the domain will be available in the United States.

Up front, this vehicle appears to carry production-ready parts, except to cover the entrances in the corners, but this concealment does little to hide the actual design. In profile, the engineers add adhesive tape to the rear part of the window frame. At first glance, this changes the appearance of the greenhouse, but a little further reveals what this element really looks like. At the rear, a zoom on the images reveals that there are panels glued on the top of the rear lights.

In addition to the standard model, the Arteon wagon would get R treatment to give VW a high performance wagon in the range. Rumors indicate that the model could use a new turbocharged version of the venerable VR6 that makes around 404 horsepower (301 kilowatts). Other information suggests that it would have an adapted version of the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 325 hp (242 kW). We have to wait and see which report is true.

The Arteon gets a minor refresh in the United States for the next model year to boost the popularity of the model. According to Hein Schafer, VW’s vice president of marketing and product strategy, the adjustments would include revised lighting and “cool improvements” to the interior. He suggested that the supply of the car in the United States was also under consideration.
