Continuing the momentum of Android 11 (Funtouch OS 11) for Vivo devices, the company is now looking to expand the umbrella to more devices.
The brand recently released the highly anticipated Android 11 update for various devices, including the older Vivo S1 Pro.
Next up is the Vivo Y50. Launched with Funtouch OS 10 based on Android 10, this device will now start receiving Android 11 (Funtouch OS 11) update.
The good news was announced by the brand’s South African Twitter support, where they reveal that the update is being tested.
Vivo users and fans alike already know that the company initially tests major updates as part of grayscale testing and then continues with the stable rollout.
This gives Vivo developers ample time to work on establishing the stability of the update.
After the reveal, it can be deduced that some Vivo Y50 users will now receive the Android 11 (Funtouch OS 11) update as part of the grayscale testing.
It’s hard to predict ETA from stable deployment, but looking at Vivo’s past record, it shouldn’t take more than a few months.
On top of that, there is also no great news and it is for Vivo Nex 3S users who have been waiting for the stable update to Android 11 for some time now.
The device bagged the Android 11 Beta 2 update a long time ago and has gone unattended ever since.
Support made the wait even worse by saying that the Android 11 update, after months of development, is still in beta testing.
It remains unclear when the device would get OriginOS with the Android 11 update.
Either way, all we can do is hope. Vivo has had a decent track record and we expect them to develop it, even more, to incorporate devices that have waited for a much longer time.
