Viola Davis and Regina King both won trophies at the 12th annual African American Film Critics Association Awards in the comfort of their own homes on Wednesday.
The talented duo just collaborated on an impressive Black Americana photo report for the April edition of W Magazine directed by Regina, 50; and with Viola, 55; and his family.
Davis – who is only one Grammy away from elite EGOT status – got another for his coat, this time the AAFCA Icon Award.

Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom actress stood out in a bright yellow short-sleeved design and turquoise earrings when she accepted the honor at the virtual ceremony.
The film focuses on rising tensions when pioneering blues singer Ma Rainey and her band gathered at a recording studio in Chicago in 1927.
Viola’s Netflix hit also won the Best Actor award for her late great teammate Chadwick Boseman and director George C. Wolfe won a “ special tribute to excellence ”.
It was King who won the award for best director for his first feature film, One Night In Miami.

It tells a fictional story of boxer Cassius Clay, civil rights leader Malcolm X, NFL star Jim Brown, and singer Sam Cooke bonding at a Florida hotel in February 1964.
One Night in Miami also won Best Ensemble for its casting (Kingsley Ben-Adir, Eli Goree, Aldis Hodge and Leslie Odom Jr.) and Best Screenplay for Kemp Powers.

Yasss queen! It was King who won the award for best director for his first feature film, One Night In Miami.

Daniel Kaluuya, who is British and not American, opted for a striped blazer because he won the award for best supporting actor for Judas and the Dark Messiah.
The biopic on Black Panther Chicago president Fred Hampton also won the Best Picture award and filmmaker Shaka King took home the Breakout Director award.
And Dominique Fishback – who played Hampton’s girlfriend Deborah Johnson – rocked a pink-print blazer to win the award for Best Supporting Actress.

Presenters at the awards show included filmmaker Ava DuVernay, sexiest man in the people Michael B. Jordan and The Morning Show star Gugu Mbatha-Raw.
The 2021 AAFCA Awards were hosted by US actor Tone Bell against Billie Holiday, The Neighborhood actress Tichina Arnold, and Curb Your Enthusiasm funnyman JB Smoove.
