Video: Ferrari hits back at Australian F1 GP

After nine consecutive race victories, Verstappen’s hopes of matching his record set in 2023 by winning 10 consecutive grands prix were dashed by a brake problem that knocked the Red Bull driver out of the race.

Sainz, in his first race after an operation for appendicitis which forced him to sit out the Saudi GP in Jeddah, took full advantage to claim his third F1 victory as Lando Norris completed the podium for McLaren.

Meanwhile, there was controversy as Fernando Alonso was stripped of 20 seconds for what stewards saw as a contributory role in George Russell’s late race crash, which capped a disappointing day for Mercedes .
