Jesse Lingard of Manchester United received a rude tirade of fan abuse after their 3-0 FA Cup Derby victory on Thursday night.
Lingard was targeted outside the team bus by several people who launched a series of insults against the 27-year-old midfielder.
The images emerged after another despicable demonstration of the English international, although that cannot be an excuse for the behavior of those responsible.
One man shouted “f *** off, Jesse, you’re ***” over and over, while another shouted “zero goals and zero assists in 2019, you’re dead”.
Please note: the video below contains strong language.
Lingard has struggled for form over the past few seasons, with no goals or assists in his 20 appearances in the current Premier League campaign.
He was the subject of incessant criticism on social media and on Thursday evening, fans brought these attitudes to the game.
It is not yet known if the individuals are true Manchester United supporters – the Red Devils’ outside contingent is generally unwavering in supporting the team.
And most of the fans seemed dismayed by the video.
Despite Lingard’s problems, Manchester United made it to the FA Cup quarterfinals with a comfortable 3-0 victory at Pride Park.
