UT MARTIN WOMEN’S BASKETBALL HOLDS FIRST OFFICIAL PRACTICE OF 2022-23 CAMPAIGN – UTM Athletics

MARTIN, TN – Preseason preparations for the University of Tennessee women’s basketball team at Martin began this afternoon with the start of official 2022-23 practice at the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center.

The seven-time regular season champions from the Ohio Valley Conference will have 42 days to prepare before opening the season on Thursday, November 10 by hosting Troy.

UT Martin will work to build on a strong core with four starters returning to the fold. Skyhawks welcome back starting goalies Shae Littleford, Paige Pikin and Seygan Robins as well as the presence of post Ella Thompson after the quartet combined to score 56% of last season’s total production. The team will seek valuable reinforcements with the addition of two Division I transfers in Sydney Boykin (Mercer) and diamond cannon (Bradley) as well as a decorated freshman class that includes Anaya Brown, lexi rubel, Clara Garland, Haley Hallette, Sharnecce Currie-Jelks, Josie Storey and Kenley McCarn.

This season marks the 14e season for head coach Kevin McMillan. During that span, the Skyhawks won 252 games, six league titles and four tournament crowns while earning nine playoff berths.

The Skyhawks will open their 54e season with a game against Troy on Thursday, November 10. For more information on subscriptions, call the Skyhawk box office at 731-881-7207.
