Joined by fellow mid-year stars Lil Jon and Ludacris, as well as Alicia Keys, Usher danced, rolled and twirled across the stage.
Usher, 45, also sported a number of eccentric fits, including a sparkly Michael Jackson tribute piece and a rubbery blue suit straight out of a laser tag arena.
The roller skating segment garnered the biggest applause from the online audience. People also pointed to Justin Bieber as a snub for Usher’s performance.
It wasn’t the perfect halftime show; that honor belongs to Tom Petty.
But anyone who experienced last year’s Rihanna Snoozefest might appreciate Sunday’s halftime show, led by an R&B titan and radio star for millennials and Gen Xers.
