Uphold Announces Free Bitcoin Trading for Users – Bitcoin (BTC/USD) – Benzinga

Digital Asset Platform Defend announced on Thursday the introduction of free Bitcoin BTC/USD trading for its clients, a move to “onboard” as many people as possible into the digital asset platform.

Uphold customers will now be able to buy and sell bitcoin for free using national currencies such as US dollars and euros until further notice.

In addition to the no-fee promotion, customers also benefit from Uphold’s connection with 28 underlying exchanges, including multiple decentralized exchanges (DEXs), for the best price on the digital asset.

“We believe there is no better place to buy and sell Bitcoin anymore,” said Uphold CEO Simon McLoughlin.

“Because crypto markets remain more inefficient than those for more traditional assets such as stocks, the price of Bitcoin can still vary by 10 to 20 basis points between trading platforms. Uphold’s intelligent routing technology is able to capitalize on these opportunities for customers. This, combined with a goal of onboarding as many people as possible, made it an obvious choice to remove trading fees for Bitcoin on our service,” McLoughlin added.

The company said the move follows the strong growth Uphold has achieved following the introduction of an industry-first offer of 0% commissions on all cryptocurrency staking through January 5. 2023.
