UPDATE: Woman shot and killed by DPS trooper after Round Rock chase has been identified

Round Rock, Texas (KXAN) – Officials have released new information about the woman who was fatally shot in Round Rock by a Texas Department of Public Safety soldier on Friday following a pursuit.

On Friday morning, Round Rock police officers were chasing a stolen gray Nissan Altima, but the driver – later revealed to be Angela Nuckols, 58, of Pflugerville – managed to elude them, and they lost track that RRPD lost track of. . A DPS soldier located the vehicle and began pursuing it, according to a statement released to KXAN by the DPS.

On Old Settlers Blvd, just west of the IH 35 access road, Nuckols lost control of the vehicle after hitting another car. The suspect’s vehicle turned into a grassy area off Old Settlers Blvd. The owner of the car Nuckols hit suffered no major injuries, according to DPS.

After the Altima came to a stop after the crash, Nuckols exited the vehicle with a gun. The DPS soldier pursuing the suspect discharged his weapon. Nuckols was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

KXAN contacted DPS to ask if Nuckols fired her gun before she was fatally shot. We will update this story when we receive a response.
