Launched at CES 2020, the Skagen Falster 3 is now on sale as the last Wear OS connected watch to run on the Fossil Gen 5 platform. As such, the watch includes a Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of storage and a speaker for audible responses from Google Assistant. The watch also has a water resistance of 3 ATM.

As for its design, the Skagen Falster 3 incorporates most of its replicas of the Skagen Falster 2 but with a slight refinement. This includes a slightly larger design to better fit the wrist and a few updated bands too. The price of the Skagen Falster 3 comes to $ 295 on the Skagen online store and on Amazon.

Moto 360

Google started its smartwatch ambitions with Android Wear and the Moto 360 was one of the first designs to really grab attention. Now the Moto 360 has been relaunched with an updated but familiar design as well as a new specification pack.

For $ 349, the new Moto 360 offers a Snapdragon Wear 3100, 1 GB of RAM and of course Wear OS too. The watch also has a rotating crown, a 3 mm thick aluminum case, three colors and a good guarantee as well. The watch is not manufactured directly by Motorola, but through a partner called “eBuyNow”. Still, the watch brings back a lot of what was loved from the original.

New for March – Suunto 7

If battery life and fitness monitoring are your priorities, Suunto 7 might be your best bet on Wear OS. This voluminous watch offers 2 days of autonomy with standard use and is also the first to offer the sport mode of the Snapdragon Wear 3100.

Suunto 7, to be clear, is by no means a small watch. It is 15mm thick and 50mm wide, larger than any other Wear OS connected watch. It also has a 24 mm band and weighs 70 grams. It takes advantage of all this size, however, by packaging a Snapdragon Wear 3100, 1 GB of RAM, an OLED screen, four physical buttons and a GPS as well.

Using Qualcomm’s special sport mode, the Suunto 7 is able to track races with GPS for 12 hours continuously, and the Suunto fitness app supports heat maps, modes for certain sports and can recognize more of 70 types of activities.

All of this comes at a price, however. The Suunto 7 costs $ 499 at Amazon, B&H Photo and in Suunto’s own store.

Puma Connected

Puma made its debut in the smart watch market in late 2019 with the Puma Connected. Part of the Fossil group, this watch is very similar to some other Wear OS sports smart watches with a Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor and 512 MB of RAM. The Connected also has flashy colors and a slim and light overall design.

The price of the Puma Connected starts at $ 275.

Armani Smartwatch 3

Another of the latest smart watches on Wear OS to adopt 1 GB of RAM is the Emporio Armani 3 smart watch. Following on from the previous designs, this last option has a fairly sporty look with pretty color accents on the legs. The new hardware also includes a rotating crown and two customizable buttons with a 1.28-inch screen. The case size measures 44mm and supports 22mm bands.

The Smartwatch 3 comes with 1 GB of RAM as mentioned, and combined with the Snapdragon Wear 3100, it should work pretty well. The watch also supports Fossil’s new smart battery saving modes.

The price of the Smartwatch 3 starts at $ 375 on the Armani online store and on Amazon.

Kate Spade KSNY Sport

Most Wear OS smartwatches have large models, but the Kate Spade Sport smartwatch has a slim body designed for women. The 41mm case is designed to look a bit thinner and has two buttons on the side with a rotating crown. The KSNY Sport also uses a 16mm strap which helps it even more to fit on small wrists.

Under the hood, the Sport has a Snapdragon Wear 3100 and 512 MB of RAM, but it works pretty well on Wear OS. The watch also has several customizable dials to match the outfits and offer different models. The price starts at $ 275 at Kate Spade and Amazon.

Fossil Hybrid HR

If you don’t want Wear OS, there are still some solid options on the market. The Fossil Hybrid HR uses its own operating system and an electronic ink screen to provide better battery life and a different experience from Google’s Wear OS. The Hybrid HR is available in a variety of models with prices starting at $ 195.

Michael Kors Access Lexington 2 / Bradshaw 2

Based on the new and solid Fossil Gen 5 platform, the latest Michael Kors Access watches include the Lexington 2 and Bradshaw 2. Diesel Axial

Diesel makes voluminous and unique watches, and the company’s latest Wear OS smartwatch is another remarkable design. The Diesel Axial has a silver (or gold) chassis that is 44mm in size and 12mm thick, which is not that bad in the grand scheme of things. The all-metal design is water resistant and has a 1.28 inch OLED screen. As with the Diesel Full Guard 2.0, there are preloaded apps on Wear OS here with weather effects, watch faces and lots of snark.

The best part, however, is that the Diesel Axial runs on the same platform as the Fossil Gen 5. This means you get a Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor, some smart battery modes and 1 GB of RAM for better performance. The bands in the Diesel Axial range range from stainless steel bands to denim, and prices start at $ 350 directly on the Diesel website.

Huawei Watch GT 2

For those who are not part of the world of Wear OS, Huawei recently launched its Watch GT 2. Like the previous Huawei Watch GT, the suite runs on a proprietary operating system which mainly focuses on health and doesn’t support most apps, but helps the watch last a full week on a single charge. The availability of this watch is unclear given Huawei’s current situation, but when it comes out widely, it should be a solid option.

Movado Connect 2.0

The new Movado Connect 2.0 replaces one of the most unique designs of Android Wear days with new specifications, useful hardware and a slightly lower price. This watch is available in sizes 40 mm and 42 mm with support for Google Fit and an additional heart rate sensor, NFC for Google Pay, and a superb general design which now includes a rotating crown and two buttons customizable shortcut. Boosting the experience, you will find a Snapdragon Wear 3100 and 1 GB of RAM.

Luxury smart watches don’t make sense for everyone, but at $ 495, Connect 2.0 isn’t completely ridiculous this time around, especially if you’re a fan of the brand. Since October, pre-orders are open.

Misfit Vapor X

Misfit’s history with Wear OS smartwatches includes good designs and decent hardware, and the Vapor X continues this trend. This new smart watch is sleek and elegant with a size of 42 mm, a 1.19 inch screen and a light body. It even includes the Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor which contributes a little to the battery life. However, attention to the user, this watch only includes 512 MB of RAM. Samsung galaxy watch

Samsung has been building Tizen-based smartwatches for a few years now, and with the Galaxy Watch, the company is not taking a hit. The Galaxy Watch is available in two sizes, 42mm and 46mm. On these two, you get a bright and beautiful OLED screen, a processor made by Samsung, Tizen, an optional LTE, etc.

These watches also have a water resistance of 5 ATM, NFC for Samsung Pay, GPS and Corning DX + glass for better durability. There’s also a rotating bezel for navigation which, personally, is my favorite way to interface with a smartwatch. Tizen is also full of health apps to track workouts, swimming sessions, etc. The notifications are also excellent and Samsung has partnerships with major application developers, including Spotify. There’s also a speaker, and it’s one of the few smart watches that can play audio.

Better yet, you will not have to recharge it daily because you can get between 4 and 6 days of use with a single charge depending on the use and the model. An important note is that it works best with Samsung devices, but it will work on most Android phones without a hitch.

Being one of the most advanced smartwatch options for Android users, the Galaxy Watch isn’t particularly cheap. The price of the base 42mm model comes to $ 329, up to $ 349 for the 46mm model. You will add an additional $ 50 if you also want to use LTE (42 mm, 46 mm).

While all of Samsung’s attention for early 2019 is on the Galaxy S10 family, one of the subtle but exciting additions to the company’s lineup is the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active. The new laptop takes many of the best pieces from old Samsung laptops, adds a few features, and also makes two massive changes.

To address the elephant in the room, yes, the Galaxy Watch Active is the first Samsung smartwatch in years to abandon the rotating bezel for an experience that relies solely on touch. The watch has a 1.1 inch screen in a 40mm case. It only works on Bluetooth and is also available in four different colors. There’s also a 20mm strip that you can swap in, track your workout and sleep, and even monitor your blood pressure. NFC is also integrated with Samsung Pay.

We will mourn the loss of the rotating bezel that has been so well received on other Samsung smartwatches, but the price of $ 199 is a big distraction. For its price, it is one of the best smart watches you can buy for Android. The Galaxy Watch Active can be purchased from Amazon, Samsung, Walmart, Best Buy and B&H Photo. Keep in mind, however, that a new model is upon us.

Michael Kors Access MKGO

If you are looking for a Wear OS sports watch that retains a high-end design, the Michael Kors Access MKGO offers just that. The brand’s classic design language is used here, but with a silicone band, an improved heart rate sensor, and a body that’s only 7mm thick.

Unfortunately, the specifications are a bit lacking in exchange for this thinner form factor. There is a Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor, but it is associated with only 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of storage, unlike most other Gen 5 watches. It’s a shame, but not quite a break, it’s still one of the best Android smart watches thanks to this slim 7mm body.

Fossil Sport

Many Wear OS watches are now bulky and bulky with obsolete hardware. The Fossil Sport is an exception to this with a slim and light design, the latest Qualcomm chip and a fairly affordable price too.

The Fossil Sport is available in two sizes, 41mm and 43mm with strips of 18mm and 20mm, respectively. You will find a Snapdragon Wear 3100 at the heart of this watch which promises better performance and much better endurance thanks to the integrated battery. In addition to this new chipset, the Fossil Sport offers an OLED screen, a water resistance of 5 ATM, a lightweight design, NFC, GPS and a heart rate monitor. Wear OS is on board, of course, preloaded with Spotify out of the box. But there is no speaker.

For its $ 275 price, often on sale, the Fossil Sport is a solid option in the Wear OS world. It lacks the 1 GB of RAM that the other options have, but overall it remains a solid option. You can get it from Amazon (where it is often at a reduced price) or from the Fossil store.

Casio WSD-F30 / WSD-F21HR

If you’re going on an outdoor adventure this summer, you’re going to want a smartwatch capable of handling the elements. To this end, the Casio WSD-F30 is by far the best option for you. The sturdy and thick smartwatch is actually thinner than previous models, but also with better battery life and new exterior features.

The Casio WSD-F30 has a 54 mm case with a thickness of 14.9 mm which has a MIL-STD-810 rating against lower temperatures and a water resistance of 5 ATM. There is also a 1.2 inch double layer screen which is a full circle and keeps the battery life to around 1.5 days. There is also an “extension mode” which reduces the power by three days mainly by using the black and white screen with GPS and offline maps. Other features include a magnetic charger, GPS, GLONASS and black, blue and orange models. The price arrives at $ 549 from Amazon.

Alternatively, if you want to save some money, there is the Casio WSD-F21HR. Although it lacks sensors (and a little display) compared to the F30, it adds a heart rate sensor which opens up more health monitoring opportunities. In addition, it is a little cheaper at $ 499 and will be available in September.

Mobvoi Ticwatch E2 and Ticwatch S2

CES 2019 was home to tons of new technology and this year it also delivered new Wear OS smartwatches. Succeeding the Ticwatch E and S which debuted in the era of Android Wear, the new Ticwatch S2 and Ticwatch E2 adopt new chipsets, new designs, etc.

Like their predecessors, the Ticwatch S2 and Ticwatch E2 are both smart watches with bare bones. Both are made entirely of plastic and are large. They also offer a water resistance of 5 ATM, the Snapdragon Wear 2100 chipset, 512 MB of RAM, a 1.39 inch OLED screen, a 22 mm band connection and 400 mAh batteries. There is also a heart rate sensor on both, but no NFC for mobile payments.

On paper, it’s a solid package and in practice, it’s still pretty good. Of course, this is strongly influenced by the price which is by far the cheapest on this list. Starting at $ 159 for the Ticwatch E2 and $ 179 for the Ticwatch S2 rated MIL-STD810G, there is great value to be had here.

Skagen Falster 2

The Wear OS hardware is in part due to the fact that several major watch brands have partnered with the Google platform. This includes the Danish brand Skagen (which is part of the Fossil group). While its first watch, the Skagen Falster, fell flat in a few areas, the Skagen Falster 2 is a fairly solid versatile smartwatch.

The main reasons for getting a Skagen Falster 2 include the design and size of this watch. Where most of the Wear OS watches on this list are large and bulky, the Falster 2 is small and elegantly designed. It has the 4th generation Fossil design which includes a plastic chassis and magnetic charging pins, but the watch chassis is stainless steel 40mm in diameter and 11mm thick. It would probably still be a little big for some users, but even my wife’s small wrist can handle this watch without a problem.

Powering the Falster 2 is a Snapdragon Wear 2100 and 512 MB of RAM.

Skagen Falster 2 also has an OLED screen, a water / dust resistance 3ATM, NFC, GPS, a rotary button, a heart rate sensor, 20mm bands and is available in several variants. Colors include black, silver and rose gold, and you can choose from leather, silicone or metallic mesh bands. The battery life is usually one day. The price starts at $ 275 and increases depending on the model, and it is often sold on Amazon.

Mobvoi Ticwatch C2

Mobvoi offers some of the best options for Wear OS users, and the Ticwatch C2 may just be the most refined.

With a classic design that inspires its name, this 42mm watch offers a look that other Ticwatches simply cannot match. It is made mainly of stainless steel and has two buttons on the side, one of which is fully customizable. You will find a magnetic charging station with pins to recharge the 400mAh battery, and each charge is evaluated for 1-2 days. In my own use, I found that apart from the Ticwatch Pro, this device has the best battery life of any Wear OS watch available today, just under two days.

To complete the Ticwatch C2 package, there is a Snapdragon Wear 2100 chipset, 512 MB of RAM, a water / dust resistance of 3 ATM, NFC, GPS, a heart rate sensor, bands of 20 mm and three colors. The black and silver versions of the watch are identical, but the rose gold variant is slightly smaller and has 18 mm bands. At just $ 199, it’s one of the best values ​​available today on Amazon or Mobvoi directly.

Fossil Q 4th generation

Fossil is probably the biggest name in Wear OS, and its fourth generation of products is pretty good. The designs of Q Explorist and Q Venture look great and come with solid bands. They also include OLED displays, magnetic charging, heart rate sensors, GPS, NFC, rotary knobs for navigation, 3ATM water / dust resistance “waterproof” and more.

Unfortunately, the majority of these products are also powered by the Snapdragon Wear 2100 chipset and 512 MB of RAM. This does not necessarily mean that you should avoid them altogether, but it is worth a moment of caution. You will get about a day of battery life from these watches and the performance may not be too hot either.

Personally, I particularly appreciated the use of the Fossil Q Explorist HR. It has a 45mm stainless steel case, a 1.4 inch OLED screen, a rotary knob and a design that pretty much fits my style.
