Uncharted Reboot Reportedly Approved by Sony

Another epic adventure underway?

Unexplored

Sony’s streak of exclusives is strong and near the top of this list lies Unexplored. This series has been such an epic action-adventure title for the fans. However, with four mainline video game installments, gamers eager to get more from that IP address were met with silence. It has been said in the past that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End would be more or less the end of this franchise. Or, at the very least, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End would be the last mainline release of the game starring Naughty Dog’s Nathan Drake.

It’s not much of a surprise, because after four main installments, there was a good chance the studio was interested in moving to a new IP. Likewise, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End apparently had a conclusion to Nathan Drake’s story. The only other game we received that wasn’t a collection or a remaster was in 2017, where Naughty Dog offered a smaller story with Chloe Frazer in Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. But now a rumor is circulating that Sony is interested in bringing this IP back to market. If it turns out to be true, Unexplored will reappear but not under Naughty Dog’s development control.

This rumor comes from The escapewhere they learned that Sony had approved a Unexplored to restart. Again, it’s stated that Naughty Dog won’t be developing this time around, but we also don’t know who’s actually behind the game’s development. Anyway, aside from a leaked rumor suggesting that the game franchise is being rebooted, no details have since been revealed about the story this game will eventually tell. We may not even see Nathan Drake in this title.

Being a reboot, we could see a completely different protagonist take on the central role of this franchise. But that doesn’t mean Nathan Drake is out of consideration, as we could see a young Nathan Drake embark on new adventures or perhaps a continuation of where we last left him in the series. . Anyway, since this rumor suggests that Sony has just given the green light to the studio to proceed with a Unexplored restart, we won’t hear from the game for quite a while. Again, this might be a false rumor, as we have nothing official to confirm whether the IP address will be retrieved or not. It could be that the future of this IP remains in the blockbuster film industry after the release of the Unexplored film starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg.
