UFC star Karolina Kowalkiewicz cannot say whether she will fight again after suffering a horror eye injury in her loss to Xianon Yan last month.
The pole had a titanium plate inserted into his right eye during surgery after the socket ruptured by a brutal whim at UFC Fight Night Aukland.
She posted an emotional video on her Instagram account last week, admitting that for the first time after a fight, she couldn’t confirm that she was okay.
“As you can see, at the start of the first round, I broke a small bone here. I couldn’t see anything. My vision was twofold and everything was like in the fog, ”she said.
“After the fight, I spent the whole day in the hospital. S *** is coming. I still love this sport and the UFC. Don’t worry, I’m fine. “
After undergoing surgery, the 34-year-old released a more positive update and hopes she can fight again.
She wrote on her Instagram story: “I hope it wasn’t my last fight, but now I’m focusing on my health.”
It remains controversial that the bout was allowed to continue after Kowalkiewicz suffered brutal injuries to both eyes in the first and second rounds.
Kowalkiewicz fought to the final bell, despite severely impaired vision, before his Chinese opponent Yan won the victory unanimously.
Her injuries were so severe that she could not return home from New Zealand, forced to wear an eye patch and stay for a few days.
