Schneider would meet several celebrities and UFC staffers that night, an occasion he counted — along with UFC 279 — as the two greatest experiences of his life. The memories of the bracelet for both events would forever remain on her wrists.
With a true fighting spirit, Schneider has defied odds over the past five years, far exceeding the few months he was given to survive after his initial diagnosis of metastatic neuroblastoma, a cancer of the nervous system. Undergoing countless cancer treatments in the years that followed, Schneider was proud to have reached his 16th birthday on October 26. He even got his learner’s permit back home in Connecticut, though he was often confined to a wheelchair.
