Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder II has made big deals and rightly so, but much of the fallout from the fight has been misdirected.
Instead of talking about Fury’s masterful performance – and it was – Wilder managed to get his costume talked about.
The bronze bomber said his ring walking gear, which paid tribute to Black History Month, weighed about 40 pounds and therefore had no legs in combat.
The American believes that this is the reason why he fell next to Fury and has already activated the revenge clause in their contract for a third fight, which would take place in July.
However, UFC president Dana White does not buy this excuse – like most people – and says that it is a main reason why the UFC does not have elaborate entries like that.
“I think there is a lot to do. Fury looked awesome, “White told TMZ.
“Fury had a perfect fight. But, if you think about boxing and fighting when the fighters are getting ready, they’re in the back, they’re relaxing.
“Some guys sleep, others stay quiet and rest. Then you get up, time yourself, warm up. Then you put something to stay warm. You don’t put all this equipment and all that. That’s why I don’t make any of these *** bulls at the UFC. I do not like it. I don’t like any of this.
“The reason he lost is because Fury is a bad ass boxer, and he fought the perfect fight that night and executed his game plan.”
Fury trained with fellow British and UFC middleweight Darren Till a few months ago and rumors have started to flow that he is considering a fight in the octagon.
Heavyweights like Francis Ngannou and champion Stipe Miocic welcomed the idea of facing Fury and White in the same spirit.
Joshua will defend his IBF, WBA and WBO heavy belts against Kubrat Pulev at White Hart Lane on June 20 and Eddie Hearn wants a contract now finalized for the “Battle of Britain”.
“There is no reason not to contract it now, provided the two guys win the summer,” said the boss of Matchroom.
