It was officially game time as Robertson and Jasudavicius watched from above, Toronto scoring an early goal that got the crowd excited. Both Robertson and Jasudavicus are from Ontario and proud to represent the Canadian flag.

Gina Kingsbury is the team’s general manager, with Troy Ryan, who was the head coach of the Canadian women’s national team, as head coach. During the inaugural PWHL draft last September, the team selected 15 players.

The team sports the colors blue, black and white and plays at the Mattamy Athletic Centre, where the Toronto Maple Leafs played.

“This whole thing has been great,” Jasudivicius said. “Seeing the girls on the ice putting their hearts into something they love is just like us. The fans are loving it, and it’s shaping up to be a great night. There are so many young girls here who look to women to be their role models, and I would be honored to be one of those role models. The kids are here to watch these girls play hockey and chase their dreams; it’s the best thing in the world.
