As funny and bizarre as it was, Currier explains that his friendly shot was no accident and that there was a plan behind it. It couldn’t have been worse, as he explained.
“So the strategy was if Willie was to get into a bare rear choke his idea was to walk towards me,” Currier explained, laughing. “Walk alongside us that way, whoever the player is in our corner, our strategy then was to sit down and then I would attack the legs with Willie lying on John because you have three to five seconds to work as a team. I grabbed John’s leg, then Willie passed out. Willie was unconscious of suffocation, so I never attacked Willie’s leg. I touched John’s leg and Willie fell forward. Both fell on me.

Currier and Audifre have clear reasons to defend themselves against lightning-fast insults like Uncle Chael’s “doofus”, especially after leaving the week that Currier had. After losing at CJJ Worlds just a week ago, it would have been nice to have had the opportunity to defend your strategy, right?
“My job is not that serious,” Currier said bluntly. “I wake up everyday and skateboard, play on my trampoline and sunbathe, go to the gym and wrestle in spandex. It’s not a real life. I would love for every event to allow me to dominate and be this ultra athlete, but I just love it. I do this for a living and it’s really hard to get mad at it.
