In the opening round, Hooker deftly navigated the Peruvian grappler’s leg lock attempts, taking his time to make the right moves and counter-moves to avoid becoming the third straight fight to lose by submission to Puelles. In the second, the veteran lightweight attacked him from distance and clearly hurt Puelles, acknowledging that every kick in the midsection made the young prospect crumble to the canvas, trying to catch his breath.
Each time, Hooker called him back to his feet, landed another kick in the guts, and sent him back to the ground. The third time this happened, referee Keith Peterson stepped in to stop the action.
The victory puts Hooker back in the win column after a two-fight skid, while Puelles suffers his first loss since his promotional debut at TUF: Latin American 3 Finale. | Official Dashboards
