Ubisoft, Bungie and others are working to allow players to transfer Google Stadia saves.
After the unexpected shutdown of Google Stadia, developers across the industry are trying to help gamers by allowing them to transfer game saves to other platforms.
“As Stadia closes on January 18, 2023, we’re happy to share that we’re working to bring the games you own on Stadia to PC through Ubisoft Connect,” Ubisoft said. “We will have more to share regarding specific details as well as the impact for Ubisoft+ subscribers at a later date.”

Google Stadia yesterday unexpectedly announced that it will be shutting down on January 18, 2023. Additionally, Google will refund all hardware and game purchases made through the service.
“We are grateful to the dedicated Stadia players who have been with us since the beginning,” Google said. “We will refund all Stadia hardware purchases made through the Google Store, as well as all game and add-on purchases made through the Stadia Store.”
The video game streaming service hasn’t exactly proven popular among gamers, but with gamers devoting hundreds, if not thousands, of hours to their favorite games on the platform, developers are keen to keep them away. let dry.
“We have just learned of Stadia’s closure and have begun discussions about next steps for our players,” said Destiny 2 developer Bungie. “We will announce and send information regarding Destiny 2 Stadia accounts once we We’ll have an action plan.”

Hitman developer IO Interactive is also working on a solution for its players.
“To all our HITMAN fans on Google Stadia,” they said. “We hear you – we’re looking for ways for you to continue your HITMAN experience on other platforms.”

The developers’ quick response to this unexpected issue is certainly commendable, but will likely mean additional development time to implement a fix. Whether or not this has a ripple effect on any of their upcoming updates or DLC remains to be seen.
Still, it’s a nice answer that might just help Stadia gamers save countless hours of playing their favorite games.
