The products have a November 25 freeze date, and FSIS has advised customers who have the products in their refrigerator or freezer to throw them out or return them. The material found in the beef was reflective and hard, FSIS and Tyson said.
No one had reported being injured by the product, FSIS said.
The beef was distributed to HEB and sold at HEB, Joe V’s, Mi Tienda and Central Market stores in Texas, HEB said.
The recall includes three different chubs produced on November 2:
- 10 pounds. Hill Country Fare Ground Beef Chub, 73% Lean, with a best before date of November 25
- 5 lbs. Hill Country Fare Ground Beef Chub, 73% Lean, with a best before date of November 25
- 5 lbs. HEB Ground Chuck Ground Beef Chub, 80% Lean
No other ground beef products were affected by the recall, Tyson said in a press release.
