Four people died in a collision of two vehicles east of Apple Valley on Saturday night, the San Bernardino County coroner’s office said.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, emergency personnel arrived at Highway 18 near Sierra Pelona Drive at 8:30 p.m.
Three occupants of a Chevrolet Suburban and one occupant of a Toyota pickup truck were pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash site is approximately 2.5 km east of where Bear Valley Road meets Highway 18.
The identities of the victims were not immediately revealed and it was not clear on Sunday what could have caused the crash.
Route 18 was closed between Soledad Drive and Milpas Drive, but according to Caltrans, all lanes were reopened after 7 a.m. Sunday.
The Victorville office of the California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident, Barstow CHP reported on Sunday.
