‘Two nights are enough with Mickey’ – Peter Crouch recalls the brilliant time he had ‘pieting’ Hollywood legend Mickey Rourke in Miami

Peter Crouch once had to eliminate Hollywood star Mickey Rourke after two nights in Miami.

It was 2006, Crouchy had just become a household name in England after winning the FA Cup with Liverpool before scoring at the World Cup in Germany.

Crouch played for Tottenham and Liverpool in his club career, but it was while playing for England that he rose to prominence in Hollywood.

But it was his iconic celebration of the robot that got everyone talking, so much so that even American actor Rourke had seen the 41-year-old’s moves.

And the Golden Globe and BAFTA winner could hardly believe his luck when he bumped into the former Tottenham striker in the Magic City.

But Crouch, who has a framed photo of him doing the robot with Rourke, revealed he finally had to piss him off when he got to his room.

Speaking on the talkSPORT Breakfast Show, Crouch said: “He’s crazy! I spent a few evenings with him in Miami.

“It was right after the World Cup in 2006 and I had done the robot, and I was walking through this bar in Miami, and he [Rourke] go, ‘hey, you’re robot boy!’

“I swear! I was like, ‘You’re Mickey Rourke!’ And he says, ‘yes.’ Anyway, we had an evening with him, it was amazing. He showed us Miami, it was amazing.

“Anyway, the next night he calls us again, he says, ‘I’ll take you out,’ I said, ‘great’ and we had a great night.

“Second night, we are again outside with Mickey Rourke, another great evening, anyway the next day, we wake up in the morning, we knock on the door.

“I swear it’s true – I have a picture of him and me doing the robot at home.

“I look through the little thing (peephole) and we’re sharing the room with my homie, I turn around and say ‘It’s Mickey Rourke’.

“He’s like, ‘get rid of him’. So we had to get rid of him on the third day.

“He slips a letter under the door saying, ‘I had a great night with you guys, we’re going to dinner tonight’.

“Well, we trampled it. Two nights are enough with Mickey.
