Two European Tour tournaments have been postponed due to the coronavirus epidemic.
The Maybank Championship in Malaysia – scheduled for April 16-19 – and the following week’s China Open have been canceled.
The two events could be rescheduled for later in the year.
“The well-being of our players, spectators and staff is always our top priority,” said Keith Pelley, director general of the European Tour.
“While it is therefore unfortunate that the Maybank Championship and the Volvo China Open have been postponed, we think it is the right decision to make at this time.
“We are currently studying alternative dates for the two events.”
A number of other top sporting events have already been reported due to the coronavirus.
The Chinese Grand Prix, which was scheduled to take place on April 19, has been postponed due to the outbreak earlier this week.
The all-electric Formula E racing series canceled its race in Sanya, China on March 21.
The indoor world athletics championships, originally scheduled for Nanjing from March 13 to 15, have been postponed until next year.
The Asian Champions League football matches involving Chinese clubs Guangzhou Evergrande, Shanghai Shenhua and Shanghai SIPG were postponed until May.
And a number of rugby sevens, tennis, boxing and basketball events have also been reported.
