Twitter announced that applications for its verification program are now open to anyone around the world. The application process was temporarily on break in August to allow several improvements.

In a tweet, the social networking site said the app is now accessible again through its Account Settings tab. Using your mobile device, including most of the best Android phones, you can head to the Twitter app’s left sidebar menu, then choose “Settings & Privacy.” In the Account section, you will see the option to request verification.

Twitter pledged late last year to relaunch the public verification program in 2021. In December 2020, the company shared its final verification policy in preparation for this plan. Twitter started restore the program in May before his temporary suspension last month.

However, the coveted blue badge isn’t entirely for everyone. Twitter has noted that there are certain requirements that you must meet before you can be verified as the person you claim to be. Here’s what Twitter said in its ad:

Verification is for notable individuals / groups within our eligible categories. If this sounds like you, you can request to be verified from your account settings!

To be eligible for the blue check mark, you must be able to prove that you meet the criteria for one of six categories such as government official, journalist, brand or business, and other notable names.

If your verification request is denied, Twitter allows you to resubmit your request at least 30 days after receiving your denial email. Otherwise, you should automatically see the verification badge on your profile.

The verification program was suspended in 2017 while there was great confusion over what the program really meant. It was viewed by many as “an endorsement or an indicator of importance,” Twitter said at the time.
