Many on Twitter were fooled by a savage tweet about Leonardo DiCaprio. Oscar winner the actor was unmasked as a closet star wars fan this week after Don’t look up co-star Jonah Hill revealed Leo forced him to watch The Mandalorian while they were spinning. Although it is a fact that the Titanic the icon loves gorging on Baby Yoda like all of us, another star wars-the DiCaprio story circulating online right now certainly isn’t.
Satirical Twitter account @LeCinéphiles shared a viral joke tweet over the weekend claiming DiCaprio made ex-girlfriend Camila Morrone watch the entirety star wars cinematic saga as he played with a toy lightsaber on what the actress and model apparently called the “worst date of my life.” It’s a hilarious gag, but the problem is most people don’t realize it’s fake and take the tweet at face value.
While obviously meant as a joke at the expense of DiCaprio’s cool guy image, the tweet actually seems to have had the opposite effect than intended as it made him even hotter in some people’s eyes.
On the other hand, DiCaprio fans now seem to be crying out for Morrone’s blood after judging her for her “worst date ever” comment, unaware that the whole event never happened in first place.
In the end, the confusion spread so much that Le Cinéphiles had to gently remind people that it was in fact a satirical page and that the story was false.
While it’s honestly a little disappointing to hear that DiCaprio isn’t bringing his girlfriends star wars showings on date nights, Jonah Hill’s story is 100% true, so we can take comfort in knowing that Leo is a secret sci-fi nerd, after all.
