Twitter cuts paid holidays for entrepreneurs starting Thanksgiving: report – Business Insider

  • Twitter has cut paid holidays for entrepreneurs starting on Thanksgiving, according to a Platformer reporter.
  • The company also fired some engineers because their “code isn’t satisfactory,” according to a Verge reporter.
  • Elon Musk has introduced cost-cutting measures on Twitter since taking over the company.

Elon Musk’s Twitter has decided to scrap paid time off for contractors working for the social media company, according to Platform journalist Zoë Schiffer.

The measurement will begin during Thanksgiving, according to Schiffer.

Amid mass layoffs since Musk’s takeover, Twitter began laying off contractors on Nov. 12 and those affected found they lost their jobs when they were locked out of their business accounts, a report said. reported Axios.

That’s not the only measure Twitter has reportedly introduced in the run-up to Thanksgiving.

Alex Heath of The Verge said Thursday that some Twitter engineers received an email late Wednesday saying they were fired because their “code is not satisfactory.” Twitter sent “performance warning” emails to other engineers, telling them to “restore our trust and demonstrate your contributions to the team,” according to Heath.

The report comes from a leaked email seen by Insider on Monday stating that all Twitter employees who code or perform technical work should submit a weekly summary of everything they worked on.

Twitter did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment outside of regular U.S. business hours about the company allegedly cutting paid vacations for contractors and laying off some engineers.

Musk tweeted Thursday that Twitter users might notice “small, sometimes major, speed improvements” on the app, adding that it would be more prominent in countries far from the United States.

The reported changes to Twitter’s workforce come at a time when the company is cutting costs.

Twitter said in a corporate email seen by Insider’s Kali Hays on Monday that it faces “a challenging economic climate where greater attention to cost management is essential.” He listed the number of benefits he would no longer pay for, including home Wi-Fi, wellness and quarterly team activities.
