Twitter has rolled out a new update to its Android app. This update brings a personalized share sheet, similar to the one available in its iOS app, to the microblogging platform’s Android app.
According to a report from Android Central, Twitter is bringing two variations of its custom share sheet to its Android app. These two variations will replace the app’s existing custom share sheet.
The three iterations, i.e. the old and the two new variations, allow users to share their selected tweet with a selected group of Tweeps with whom they frequently communicate. Unless it’s similar, there are subtle but noticeable differences as well.
For starters, the old version offered options to share the Tweet via direct message, bookmark it, copy the link to the Tweet, and share the tweet in different apps arranged vertically. This changes in new iterations. In both iterations, the “ Send via Direct Message ” option is present just below commonly used Twitter accounts. In the first iteration, the “Bookmark”, “Copy link” and “Share via” options are available horizontally just below the “Send via direct message” option. By virtue of this, Twitter users get a vertically stacked list of third-party apps in which the selected Tweet can be shared.
In the second iteration, the “Copy link” and “Bookmark” options are present alternately between the third-party applications under the “Send by direct message” option.
Notably, Twitter, via a Tweet from its official Twitter support account, confirmed that it is rolling out the new share menu to all of its users on its Android app. “Hey, my friends on Android. This new sharing menu is now testing a faster way on your devices to share Tweets with other apps. If you see it, give it a try, ”Twitter said.
