TWICE’s Chaeyoung has ditched her portrayal of ‘Off My Face,’ originally from Justin Bieber.
The singer stays true to the acoustic sound of Bieber’s original version, released earlier this year as part of his studio album “Justice”. “Your touch clouded my vision / It’s your world and I’m right in it / Even sober, I don’t think right, ” Chaeyoung sings in English.
Meanwhile, the accompanying cover visual depicts Chaeyoung in a dreamlike state, where she is transported to an ethereal forest where she performs the song from her dark bedroom, lit only by the light from her projector.
Cover is the latest addition to the girl group’s “Melody Project” series, where individual TWICE members post covers of songs on the group’s YouTube channel.
Previous releases of “Melody Project” include Jihyo’s cover of Jang Hyejin’s “A Late Night of 1994” and Nayeon’s cover of Ariana Grande’s “Love Is Everything”. Tzuyu had also teamed up with Bang Chan of Stray Kids on a cover of ‘ME!’ by Taylor Swift and Brendon Urie. in June of this year.
TWICE recently released an “opening trailer” for their upcoming third studio album “Formula Of Love: O + T = ＜ 3” ahead of its release, establishing the sci-fi concept for the upcoming album. The album will be released on November 12 at 2 p.m. KST / midnight EST.
Meanwhile, the group had also released their very first English single “The Feels” earlier this month, although the group had released tracks in English in the past. In 2020, the girl group released English versions of their singles ‘More & More’ and ‘I Can’t Stop Me’. They also released their first original English track “What You Waiting For” B-side on their 2019 Japanese album “& Twice”.
