NEW DELHI: Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC), a skills development institution for the telecommunications industry, has launched a Center of Excellence with Huawei Technologies at NIT Patna for capacity building.
The center to be established under the Department of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship will cater to roles in information and communications technology, cyber security, electronics and communication including technical fields, services and related fields.
The MoU, which was signed for a period of five years, aims to train, retrain and upskill aspiring students to improve their employability through training in innovative technologies.
This includes finding a potential sponsoring agency, government or private, to develop the appropriate infrastructure at NIT Patna for the smooth running of the training programs. The CoE will also train the trainers and assessors program for the certification of trainers and assessors.
“Training and developing the frontline workforce for the telecommunications industry has become imperative with the accelerating growth of the industry. We see new technology-based businesses every day, with telecommunications being their backbone, and to meet customer needs, we must have the workforce in place. Huawei will be a strategic partner to help us align with future industry demands, and NIT Patna will provide the crucible of student transformation,” said Arvind Bali, Managing Director of TSSC.
TSSC will provide training content, network of training partners, connection with industry, NOS as per industry demand, institutionalize process of accreditation of training providers, assessment and certification of assessors, trainers and trainees, all of whom will be industry approved.
This center will also serve as an adequate industrial training facility for B. Tech or Diploma or Certificate courses. The lab setup will cater to high-end courses on IoT technology. After the MoU period is over, the center will be handed over to NIT Patna.

We chose futuristic technology like the Internet of Things (IoT) considering the growth potential of IoT with projects like NDCP and Smart Cities India.”
NIT Patna will host the lab setup and all the equipment needed for the training. It will also provide a list of teachers for those who wish to be CoE trainers. The institute will monitor the center to optimize operations, the companies said.
